Expanding Vocabulary- Phase 2 FSM

Expanding vocabulary - ( INKING Analogy )

This workshop is intended for those students who have already familiarized themselves with the Thai Massage practice through taking Thai 1 and its ok to begin with this phase as well. We will extensively review the Thai 1 material, both strengthening knowledge of the form itself and deepening awareness within the exercises, in order to bring our consciousness to a more subtle level during the healing process. also we wil add more moves to each sequence.

If you missed phase 1 it's OK to jump in to phase 2. Just know that there will be a lot of material covered. It is often that there will be students who missed the first class jumping in at this phase so Ariela will modify it for you. There's also the option for a private tutor prior or after class if students would like support.

In our first weekend together we learned the watercolor phase. In this class we will begin to learn inking. I love the analogies of art. I perceive Thai-Massage as an art. In the inking aspect of this art we will tap into the energy lines and the acupressure points. We will review and also build.

Thai Foot at Aquarian dreams

Thai Foot Reflexology at the Beach!!

In this workshop students will learn to give an hour long session on the feet alone, while still affecting the whole body through aware stimulation of the sen lines and marma points. Utilizing both dry and wet massage (with and without oil) as well as a Thai foot stick, to glide the lines and press the points with greater accuracy and precision then the hands alone could provide.

The style we will be exploring is a method derived from Shivaga Komarpaj of the Chiang Mai school of Thai Massage, and is for everyone. Students will Luxuriate in two days of amazing foot work.

In this workshop you will need to bring two towels and some Shea butter. Some rosewater spray is also an antimicrobial and adds a beautiful component to our work.

If you would like to work on the massage table please bring one. If you would like to work on the mat on the ground bring a send memory foam, a thai mat or I thick blanket.

Advanced Postures of Thai Massage at FSM / Callage'

Advanced Postures - ( Callage’ Analagy )

lets learn the amazing “Seated Sequence” together!

Thai Massage is Flat without the knowledge of how to apply touch in the seated position. In this workshop, we will learn the beautiful “Lotus Palm” version of seated along with an advanced focus on digestion and some fancy flips with deeper back bends for more flexible clients.

The deeper component of this workshop is the ability to assess how to create a session depending on who shows up. At this point we've learned the foot sequence, the single leg sequence, sideline sequence, prone sequence, double leg sequence and closing sequence. By adding the seated sequence we can pick and choose how we want to begin our session depending on our clients in balance. It is perfectly acceptable to leave out things and spend more time with other things. I called this class collage because we've reached a point in our practice where we can design our canvas specifically to the needs of our partner.

When you apply for the course you will see the option for registering for all seven or just one. If you would like the discount since you're applying for all seven and you missed the first few classes you can apply this tuition toward the next cycle. Either way you can either jump in one weekend at a time or you can commit to all seven and graduate at the next cycle.

Energy Lines of Thai Massage at FSM

Energy Lines & Ayurvedic applications

The system we will be exploring during this class is a descendant of a synthesis of India’s Ayurvedic medical healing art and China’s meridian methodology. In Thai Massage we cultivate an awareness of the “sen” lines and practice various techniques with the intent of bringing them into balance with each other.

Two of the greatest practitioners of our time (Asokananda, Kam Thye Chow) pieced together fragments found in various Buddhist temples around the world, and together have co-created a modern interpretation of this ancient knowledge. At this stage in the deepening of our skills and awareness of the present we will honor the continuation of the Thai Massage lineage through extending our conscious knowledge and encompassing a more subtle comprehension of the bodies energy pathways.

In this class we will learn a sequence for each line and really feel the quality it brings to our work,

Ayurvedic Applications to Thai Massage - Phase 5 at FSM

One day the student asked if Thai-Massage is just a series of memorized sequences. This moved me in the same way it must have moved my teacher, Kam Thy Chow as well.

Of course the sequences give us a foundation but ultimately one must become intuitive and have an understanding of the elemental body. This is how Ayurveda can come to play.

In this class we will break down the winds and how they affect our emotions. How to choose postures to balance different constitutions and how to understand the importance of feeling each of the elements in our own body so we are practicing with Wisdom. In this class we breathe life into the sequence.

We will learn to identify the Doshas, Vayus and Pulse points. A breakdown of some of the Buddhist foundations such as, Sila, Samhadi and Panya. Which of the foundations of all good thai practitioners.

Ariela Compares this class to the Wizard of Oz when it goes from Black and White to multi color. Its a wonderful weekend of energy work.

If you would like the discount since you're applying for all seven and you missed the first few classes you can apply this tuition toward the next cycle. Advanced Side line Sequence

Join us for a weekend of Sideline Postures that was taught to Ariela by Laurino Bertelli from the Sunshine Network in Chang Mai, Thailand.

In this weekend you will be able to work more effectively on pregnant clients as well as athletes.

This modified sequence wil give us many more options to address classic Hip and Shoulder Pain in this orthodox Sideline Position and it is a dynamic style that will bring more diversity, beauty and curiosity to your work.

This will be our sixth weekend together. It is a combination of Ayurveda, energy lines and advanced posture is in the sideline position. A lot of the Siddhi postures we've learned in phase 3 will be reviewed but in the sideline position. It is a dynamic workshop that offers ways to address the body in such a beautiful and creative way. I am thankful to the Sunshine net work and the teachers who brought this lineage to me in Montreal many years ago shortly after Asokananda passed. It felt like a true gift to my practice and it is a pleasure to share it to serious students of Thai-Massage.

PHASE 1- Thai Massage with Herbal Compress

PHASE 1- Thai Massage with Herbal Compress

Welcome to the Master Student Protocol Class

This is the first weekend of our seven month master training. In this first weekend we will get to know each other and talk about some of our goals as advanced therapists. We will also spend the day studying the use of plant medicine, creating an herbal compress, and understand how to give a specific pampering and Vata and reducing session. ( Vata means to much wind ).

Master Student Title-

All students who have completed all seven phases of the earlier certification program titled” Ayurveda and Thai-Massage Certification” are eligible to take this class. If you have taken both programs you will receive the title of master student and be eligible to come to any of Ariela's classes in the future as an assistant teacher at no charge.

Intoduction class is a pampering day of making bundles and learning how to give a spa treatment.

Thai Herbal Bundle Therapy is a multi-therapy massage treatment, combining traditional Thai Massage, aromatherapy, and herbal healing. This class will demonstrate a massage therapy that dates back several thousand years, and incorporates knowledge gathered and passed on for generations concerning the medicinal effects of plants, whether through ingestion or application to the body. In Thailand, the herbal compress is called luk pra kob ("herbal pressing sphere"). In the U.S. it is referred to as an "herbal steam" or "herbal ball". An herbal compress is made by combining a number of healing herbs, bundled together in a muslin ball with a short handle, according to ancient recipes. Originally, this herbal therapy was designed to reduce pain and inflammation, especially for soldiers after battles and for Postpartum women suffering the after effects of childbirth. Nowadays, the application and massage of these compresses to the body are used more generally to relieve all manner of aches and pains, be it from physical labor, exertion, or simply the stresses and strains of modern living The compresses contain a blend of aromatic and therapeutic traditional Thai herbs – up to 15-20 herbs – wrapped in cotton muslin and then steamed to release the potent qualities of the herbs, which impart both a relaxing and an invigorating effect on the mind and body after application. It is a beautiful addition to the traditional sequence and adds a deeper healing for acute and chronic pain of the body.

Heaven and Earth - Special Shala Weekend
Feb

to Feb 23

Heaven and Earth - Special Shala Weekend

Class will be Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am - 4:30 pm both days

Ariela created this class for both advance students and also beginners. It is a multifaceted weekend exploring the subtlety and awareness of both rising and falling energy and cultivating intuition so that one can spend more time on what's actually needed.

At the end of the weekend we will have a foundation in which to grow in this beautiful art. If you are a student of Thai Massage already, it will reinforce some of the more important aspects and reinvigorate your practice. All are welcome to attend.

Ariela will modify the program so that all feel met.

Ariela has been traveling for many years teaching the art of Thai-Massage. One year she was invited to teach at a retreat center in western Massachusetts where there were students who had been studying with her for many years and also students who were just coming for their first time. This was how the intention of this program was developed. How does one create a program that is both accessible for the novice and for the already developed practitioner.

There's never a limit to awareness. Awareness can grow and be cultivated. In this awareness ariela will spend time with the beautiful smooth transitions that arise from one posture to the other. We will also spend time developing presence in curiosity within all of the stretches and spending more time on what our partner would benefit from most. Communication through language and touch and development of intuition is the primary intention for our weekend workshop.

There will be a program beginning in January so if a new Student would like to see iff Thai Massage is indeed something they would like to pursue this an effective way to take a peek at the teaching style and environment.

PHASE 2- Thai Massage for Headache and Neck Pain
Mar
7
to Mar 8

PHASE 2- Thai Massage for Headache and Neck Pain

The Headache and Neck pain class was developed by Ariela with the attempt to share a very specific Thai-Massage treatment plan. The way she put these sequences together was by studying the marma points of Ayurveda. She learned which marma points are relative to headache and also applied the Ayurvedic understanding of the winds. (for example if one has a headache due to too much expansion of one's energy Thai-Massage will bring the movements inward and if someone has a headache due to lack of movement lack and lack of outward energy then the Thai-Massage sequence will help with expansion and postures will help increase energy )

Headaches may arise because of different reasons, for example it may be from digestion, it may be from mental tension, it may be environmental or maybe due to physical stress. If we communicate with our partner we can offer a specific treatment just for them.

Join Ariela for a weekend of self-care the use of sandalwood paste and the discovery of Ayurveda and Thai Massage to help relieve headaches.

Double Practitioner Thai Massage

to Jun 8

Double Practitioner Thai Massage

In Traditional Thai Massage, one aligns the body through stretching the entire structure and working the lines and points, according to the individuals needs. The session works physically, emotionally, energetically and spiritually, bringing balance to the whole being. The nature of Thai Massage is to BALANCE the energy bodies. If you are tired, it will awaken you and if you are nervous, it will calm you.

Four handed/Footed -Double Practitioner Thai massage is founded on the same principles as Traditional Thai, but it is inspired by its Ayurvedic cousin, Abhyangha Massage, which is performed by two partitioners. It has been my experience, that when receiving Thai Massage by two practitioners at the same time there is a sense of losing control and total surrender.

In This Class we will learn a Sequence that was developed by Ariela. It holds the foundation of the classic sequence but is synchronized to function with duality. The two practitioners work in harmony, mindfully and attentive to the breath as the inward/ outward stretches are congruently done in a harmonious mindful union.

Students will learn to give an hour-long sequence, learning both parts, (Upper and Lower body) and will have the confidence to offer a Sensational Double Practitioner Session.

Please bring loose comfortable clothes that you can stretch in. A full size memory foam, thin futon or a padded blanket to be used as a Thai Massage mat. Snacks and Lunch (optional: we often bring food to share and have a picnic together). There will be a corner of the room used as an alter for sacred object to help create beautiful space and to give you something all charged up to take home. (crystals, drums, flutes, art, flowers, cloth….)

Class will begin promptly at 10:00 A.M. both days, please be on time.

Introduction to Thai Massage-

Over the course of this first workshop, students will learn an hour and a half long form.  Practiced on the floor, or Table.

This form enables the therapist the use of elbows, knees, forearms and feet in a comfortable and efficient way that utilizes the body dynamic and ones own weight to distribute the force required for the application of the relevant techniques. The recipient lies relaxed and loosely clothed while the practitioner guides them through a series of yogic asanas and applies balancing touch to the body’s major energy lines and points.

Exploring Heaven and Earth- Aquarian Dreams

Saturday, March 22 - Sunday, March 23:
Thai Yoga Massage Certification Weekend:

Exploring Heaven and Earth- An Intuitive approach to Thai Massage
with Ariela Grodner

Thai Massage is an observation of the elemental body and an attempt to bring balance to the properties witnessed. In this unique class we explore the 4 directions throughout the body while offering simple stretching. We can then intuit or ask which of the directional movements would be of most benefit. This is the exploration of the Wind element. The Earth element will be explored by finding stillness in the chosen stretch. There are 108 marma points (acupressure points) on the body according to Ayurveda.
When we pick an area to find stillness, we will also visit that specific point to make the stillness even more potent. This unique approach to Thai Massage encourages one’s unique creativity and intuition. Feel more empowered to just be creative and trusting in the natural process that unfolds with Thai Massage.

PHASE 1 FSM- Thai Massage ON THE TABLE OR MAT

PHASE 1 FSM- Thai Massage ON THE TABLE OR MAT

Thai Massage Fundamentals: 3 MONTH IMMERSION

This three month training consists of the fundamentals and basic requirements one would need to offer a beautiful Thai Massage session either on the table or mat.
Ariela has designed a program to inspire bodyworkers in today's field to learn some of the ancient techniques of India and Thailand in an applicable fashion that is easily navigated on a massage table or Thai Massage mat.
In Thai-Massage the number three is considered auspicious. It is the first number in nature to create a shape and therefore holds a strong foundation. Ariela put together a series of three classes which she believes will create a foundation and inspire students to really thrive in this field.

The first weekend that we meet will be a one hour sequence that can be applied either on the mat or a floor. This will allow students to feel confident to work on their future clients in the art of Thai Massage. After a month we will meet again and look more in depth at the artistry of Thai Massage and develop intuition in our work. The last weekend will be a weekend dedicated to the feet, which can also be added to the first two weekends as a session for those wanting a longer massage. Learning the foot sequence makes it very easy to give a one and a half to three hour Thai-Massage if ever needed. It also stands on its own as a full hour treatment for the feet alone.

1-Introduction to Thai Massage :Mat or Table
2-Exploring Heaven and: Earth the Artistry of Thai Massage
3-Thai Foot Reflexology

Each weekend consists of 18 hours. The cost for the individual weekend is $350 but if you take all three it is $900.
Students will receive 54 continuing education hours. All classes are both Florida and Nationally approved for by NCBTMB
Students will receive a certificate of completion after each weekend for the hours attended. For those completing all three weekends and completing the full training, they will receive a certificate of completion documenting all three classes and a memento of their hard work they may want to hang on the wall of their office space to present their accomplishments.

Advanced side line flow space

Learning to give a complete session in the side lying- position will enhance the practitioners ability to work with either pregnancy or even athletes. All serious students are welcome to join at any face of this seven month program.

Traditionally, in classical Thai Massage, the recipient assumes either a sitting, prone, supine or side line position. Of these postures a strong working knowledge of sideline and it's applications can be indispensable, particularly for working with pregnant clients, or those for whom lying on their stomach is uncomfortable or not possible. In this workshop we will modify all the material previously learned to accommodate these needs.

We will also undertake a stronger and more detailed knowledge of the energy lines in the side position and we will learn to apply different stances for different lines, customizing them to the individual needs of the client. In this fifth level training , we will apply knowledge previously gained while learning to trust in our intuition through the application of Ayurvedic principles. In this stage of learning, we will primarily be applying energy through the use of our feet and developing the sensitivity, balance and agility that naturally extends from this technique. With some emphasis being placed on the mutual source they share, we will explore Hatha yoga principals within the context of Thai Massage and utilize this knowledge in the shared benefit of recipient and practitioner alike.
